Eager for Mommy

We are sooooo ready for Mommy's return!

We've had three fun days as Mommy has been back east visiting Ace's newest cousins, and have stayed busy. Nanna and Papa's trip extended until Saturday night (thanks for visiting us!), so they made the separation from Mommy a little easier.

But now we are ready for her return. Ace went to bed early and can't wait to wake up tomorrow and see his favorite person in the world!

Dyer, Dyer, & Dyer-Payne

We enjoyed Nanna and Papa's final day in Denver by sticking close to home, including a trip to the Purple Mountains playground. We had such a great week that saying goodbye tonight was difficult, but we look forward to seeing them again in Maine soon.

The Critter introduced Nanna and Papa to two of his favorite a Denver hang-outs today: The Denver Museum of Nature and Science and the Denver Botanic Gardens.

Guess Who's Inside?

It's not Mommy or Daddy, Nanna or Papa. Mommy and Chase had fun in the kids area while Nanna and Papa explored the Denver Museum of Art.

The World's Most Interesting Restaurant

We braved a true Denver-area landmark tonight, venturing into the infamous Casa Bonita.

We had the best seats in the house with a pool-side view of the cliff diver! We also watched a puppet show & shoot-out, and went through Black Bart's Cave -- an in-house haunted house! The food may have been virtually in edible, but the experience was certainly one of a kind.

Climbing to New Heights

Daddy took the day off and the whole family ventured up to Rocky Mountain National Park. Ace did some rock climbing and we all enjoyed spectacular views of the mountains, a freak snowstorm (!) and more elk than you can shake an antler at. A fun adventure for all!

Easter Dinner

Nanna and Papa arrived for the week, just in time to spend a warm, sunny Easter Sunday with the Critter!

Paramedics

Ace and Sean relay this emergency vehicle back and forth between them on a delightful Saturday morning. Note that Ace is also armed with a squirt gun in case anyone tries to get in the way of affordable healthcare for all!

Light Rail

Sold!

The Critter had a grand time with Sean and a few other friends while Mommy and a Daddy were off selling their home. Yep, the deal is done and we're no longer Denver homeowners. Nevertheless, we still have time left for fun and friends in the Mile High City!

Running with the Big Kids

Mommy dropped Ace off at SOAR this afternoon so he could show his support for daddy's school. First, we enjoyed a fundraiser concert by Night Oblivion, SOAR's performing drum group students, who played an hour of West African music.

Then we headed to Panda Express, where a cut of tonight's profits were going to be donated back to SOAR. The highlight for Ace, however, was just getting to run around outside the restaurant with Caleb.

High Ropes

Chase explores some high ropes at a park we discovered in Centennial.

Those are Carrots?!?

Although he initially expressed great skepticism about the purple carrot Mommy presented at dinner, Ace eventually ate almost all of it, saying, "This tastes like a real carrot!"

Pizza Party

Mr. Popular attended two birthday parties in two days this weekend. Mommy took him to yesterday's and Daddy was on duty for today's. In addition to exhausting himself in the bouncy houses, Ace also ate and enjoyed an entire piece of pizza; notable because he usually only wants the crust. (Friend Owen was there to lend moral support.)

Dirt Devils

Liam, Ace, Parker, and Arlo worked hard today to unload Justin's pickup with the soil for his raised beds. Great job, Gents!

Chase was lucky to be invited to Erinn's house for playtime, dinner and a movie. It wasn't long until the party devolved into wearing just underpants and playing keep away from Morgan.

After his first school field trip to the Matzah Factory, which we must admit was not Chase's favorite, we found solace in some FroYo and mall toys.

Neighbors

One of the joys of living in Stapleton has been the olde timey experience of heading outside and running into a gaggle of neighborhood kids to play (and make funny faces) with. We hope that we end up in a community in Maine where Ace can find similar companionship.

Fly with Me

The Little Engineer requested a visit to the Wings a Over the Rockies Air & Space Museum this morning, which we happily obliged.

However, he did have a moment of panic - captured here - when he asked if the flight simulator might actually take off.

Technical Climbing

Ace did a bit of bouldering outside the REI store this morning.

Our Little Angel

We were a bit surprised to find 4 inches of snow on the ground this morning, but most of it melted by late afternoon, and it gave The Critter one more chance to throw snowballs, make a snowman, get pulled around the courtyard in his (duct tape repaired) sled, and make snow angels!

Day Date

Chase and Erinn enjoyed a morning bouncing at Jumpin' Jordy's, some FroYo, then some outside time at a neighborhood school's playground. Friends forever.

Extermination

A few days ago, we made our weekly trip to Home Depot. I bought some ant killer, but sold it to the Critter as spray that "scares the ants away." Ever since then, he has been highly enthusiastic about using it, even though we don't really have any current ant problems.

Tonight, after I insisted that we didn't need to use the spray, he took matters into his own hands and decided to blow the ants away. At least all his hot air was finally being put to good use!
